For the 15th Anniversary, we would like to recognize John Kaiser, the founder of the Whidbey Island Marathon. Thank you John, for bringing this fun event to the island!

We want to thank the many people who helped with the 2016 events including the Elks Lodge, Orswell Events, Accustat, our many wonderful sponsors, and numerous contractors and City staff.  We offer a huge thanks to all of our volunteers, we could not make this a success without you!

Run for a Day, Play for the Weekend

Whidbey Island is the perfect island weekend getaway where you can leave the city behind. Just north of Seattle, nestled up in Washington State’s Puget Sound is Whidbey Island. As a destination vacation playground for many, the island provides a vehicle accessible getaway from the busier mainland. Providing picturesque ocean views and tranquil farmland, the full marathon and half marathon courses, along with our 10k and 5k, promise to be scenic from country back roads to waterfront coastlines, snow-capped mountains and rolling hills.

The Bakers Dozen Series is comprised of 13 Half-Marathon events that are produced by Northwest-based organizations (AKA “Home Baked Miles”). These events give back to their local communities in numerous ways, including the support of local charities, children’s programs, high school sports programs, as well as health and fitness initiatives across the NW.
